New FORCE VELOCITY TRAINING classes launching soon…

IGNITE
This is a metcon class (metabolic conditioning) Expect a mixture of strength & cardio conditioning. You will work both aerobic and anaerobic energy systems in this 60 minute class. Max number of participants is 6 so there is a huge focus on technique and execution of each drill.

RESILIENCE
A pure strength focused class. We will focus on 1-2 major lifts focusing on form, then progressing over a number of weeks using different modalities. Using a RAMP warm up suitable for you and your body to eliminate any injury, then one-three strength exercises depending on the focus, followed by accessory exercises relevant to the session, finally finishing with either a flow to lengthen and stretch or a midline (core) finisher.

All packages bought will come with strength & swim programming which will compliment and cover your training for the duration of the week. This is via our TrueCoach training platform which is delivered to your inbox every morning or is accessible through the app.

TRAIL RUNNING - WHAT SHOES TO WEAR?

This week we have a few very fantastic recommendations from Coach Sally's husband Paul, who is an avid trail runner and recently has completed some hugely impressive ultra running events across the UK and Europe. Have a read below for his top trainers!

The Adidas Terrex are great for racing but there isn't much cushioning if that is something that you normally need with your running technique and routine. But if you want to churn out some fast miles, they are good. The 190s are super light plus the colours are cool.

Brooks Cascadia have more cushioning but they're not specialised and more generic. everyone raves about them, but they're 'good if you aren't too fussed about having the perfect shoes for the terrain'.

Inov-8 is a great option too, but just be aware that they are all niche, ie soft ground/hard ground etc. We highly recommend them if you want to have a specific pair for the conditions but be sure to try them out before to go to an event.

COMMUNITY CORNER - MEET ZAID!

This week we chat to the incredible Zaid and hear about his passion for fitness and his journey with Force Velocity!

How did you first get involved with FVR?

Prior to the first lockdown, when the world was more normal I would (and still do) go to Barry's Bootcamp and would love to attend Tee's classes.
They were well structured, challenging, inspiring and just made sense, allowing me to track my progression.
As lockdown hit and everything closed, the FVR Outdoor running was a saviour, especially the Saturday Scorpion Ritual, which was the highlight of my week.
I would alternate between Ealing Common and Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens, really enjoying the outdoor space, nature and environment around me whilst battling my way through Tee's set of glorious and 'dreamy' runs (some were very NOT dreamy) :-)
I really enjoyed the Scorpion and Lightning Bolt based runs, as I am more akin to Sprinting/Plyometric Power/Fast Twitch based moves.
I can't remember how/who initially told me about the FVR Outdoor runs as lockdown hit in March 2020/April 2020, but I am so glad I got involved!
I also really enjoyed the Strength Programme, it was both sensible and at times (the Friday Finisher) brutal!
The Live Zooms and Archive were an excellent reference for indoor strength building, as well as HIIT/WOD based work.

What’s your most memorable running/training memory so far?

Those 'Dreamy' Kensington Gardens Saturday Scorpion Runs around the Pond, avoiding the vicious yet gracious Swans and Wildlife, as well as the Indoor Live Strength Training where the neighbour began to hate me due to early morning Zoom Classes and Jumping around

What’s your favourite FVR run? Or workout?

I had several, these include the Scorpion based Endurance workout, as well as the shorter and punchy Lightning Bolt power!
As Gyms opened up, but classes were still banned, the Treadmill NRG Runs were my go-to workout, as these were equally as amazing.

What’s your fitness goal for the rest of this year/next year?

I am taking part in a lot of Hyrox Events, which involves a mix of Running (8K total, broken up into 1K and a functional Discipline, x8) and Functional, where Tee's Runs have helped me work on my high end Threshold and Endurance

What do you do when you’re not running or at the gym?

Think about my next workout and meal :-)

Hehe, but honestly, I've also started to listen to Positive/Wellness based Podcasts, as well as focus on balance and internal mindfulness.

A fun fact we might not know about you?

I eat between 3,500 and 4000 Calories a day, even though I am barely 5 Foot.

I would also love to go for the 1 Hour Chest-To-Floor Burpee World Record :-)
